DEC PATTON wants to earn himself another Super League shot by helping part-timers Widnes cause a Challenge Cup shock against hometown Warrington.

The ex-England Knights scrum-half started his career with Wolves, making more than 100 appearances, including featuring in two Grand Finals and lifting the Cup in 2019.

But since initially leaving for Salford two years later, he has fallen down to the second tier and has now racked up four different clubs in the Championship.

Patton, still only 29, played for Bradford, Featherstone and Swinton before linking up with Widnes this term.

Ahead of today’s fourth round tie, he admitted: "I've had a couple of relaxed years.
