Nigel, 71, beats car park giant in 5-yr battle after fine soared for fee he had already paid
A PENSIONER has won a five-year legal fight with a car parking firm which tried to fine him over a £1 ticket he had paid for.
Nigel Richardson, 71, took on Euro Car Parks after he was relentlessly pursued for the alleged £1 debt - even after supplying the firm with a receipt proving he had paid them the correct amount at the time.
And when a debt collection company threatened him with court, he told them: “Bring it on.”
Mr Richardson had parked his VW Golf at one of Euro Car Parks' sites in 2020 but found he had no cash on him and the card payment machines were not working.
He tried using a mobile phone app but did not see a notification to say the payment had gone through.
Honest Mr Richardson wrote to the firm to explain what had happened and that he might owe them £1 - but they responded by fining him £100.
