Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist one of world's bravest

- BY ANDY LINES Chief Reporter

ONE of the world's finest and bravest reporters who worked for the Daily Mirror during the second Gulf War has died aged 91.

Pulitzer Prizewinning journalist Peter Arnett sent a series of powerful dispatches for our readers from the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

The Mirror hired him after he was controversially fired by NBC in a row over impartiality. Our front page at the time said: "Fired by America for telling the truth. Hired by the Mirror to carry on telling it."

Arnett had won his Pulitzer for reporting for Associated Press in Vietnam and acclaim for his work with CNN in the first Gulf War.
