Peter and Rohin help animals in special episode of hit show

- BY SANJEETA BAINS

Like a home from home

They may be 4,000 miles apart but when The Yorkshire Vet's Peter Wright filmed in Punjab he found plenty in common with his home county.

Although four times smaller than Punjab state, which has millions of acres of farmland, Yorkshire boasts a rich agricultural heritage, too.

But Peter also tells the Mirror: "The welcoming, friendly nature of the farmers in Punjab was exactly the same as that of the farmers in North Yorkshire.

"You might get different types of snacks and foods, but you get the same hospitality and friendliness. It was like a home from home in many ways."

Peter, 68, travelled to northern India with fellow vet Rohin Aojula. They invited Rohin's dad Harmesh to join them and visit the family farm where he grew up, on the edge of Garhi Kanugoan village.

Rohin says: "I wanted to reconnect to my heritage after a few years away. It was important to my dad and to me.

"I spent many childhood holidays in Punjab on our farm and it gave me my love for animals."
