Wife: He was bigamist and he raped me

A WOMAN who married synagogue killer Jihad Al-Shamie has told how he sexually and mentally abused her while lying to conceal the fact he already had a wife and child.

The 38-year-old, who the Mirror is not naming, said she fell in love with Al-Shamie after they met on a Muslim dating app and he insisted that they could only be in a relationship together if they were man and wife.

But the woman says he subjected her to coercive and controlling behaviour and even raped her - before pleading for forgiveness and finally admitting that he already had a wife and a child.

Hate-filled Al-Shamie, 35, killed two people and injured four others in a knife and car attack at the Heaton Park synagogue in Manchester last week.

He was shot dead by police.

The woman told the Manchester Evening News how he constantly lied to her to keep his secret safe.

She said: "He was nice, then vile. Nice. Vile. It was his way or no way. He said that before we had a relationship, we needed to be married."

The woman spoke out as it emerged Al-Shamie had relationships with different women - and possibly more marriages.
