Urgent appeal to tackle 'health crisis' of squalid living conditions

NEARLY one in four Brits - or a huge 15 million people - are living in homes that are making them ill, shock research has revealed.

Renters were particularly likely to be among the estimated six million families and three million children to face issues such as damp, mould or cold.

Martin Roberts, host of property series Homes Under the Hammer, is fronting a campaign to improve UK living conditions in the wake of the startling findings.

He says: "It's got to be recognised as a public health crisis, the amount of damage it's doing to people and the knock-on effects on the NHS.
