Lesson learned as Mitchell ensures his stars have plenty left in the tank

RED ROSES boss John Mitchell is using lessons from a World Cup nightmare to prepare his side for tomorrow's sellout final at Allianz Stadium against Canada.

Mitchell (above) has unfinished business with global tournaments having been an assistant to Eddie Jones in 2019 when England's men blew their big chance in Japan.

Jones’ side had produced a performance for the ages to beat New Zealand 19-7 in the semifinal, but lost 32-12 to South Africa in the big one.

Mitchell's current side were given a thorough workout by the French for an hour in Bristol last Saturday before winning their last-four clash 35-17.

And mindful of the emotional overload, especially at a home tournament, the New Zealander gave his squad two days off away from camp, before hitting the training park again.
