Kop icon John backs bid to save replays
FA Cup winner John Aldridge has joined our crusade to save replays in the competition.
He has joined clubs Bury, Wimbledon and Bolton Wanderers, former winners of the world's oldest knockout tournament, to back The Mirror's campaign.
John, a prolific striker, played for the all-conquering Liverpool side in the late 80s, scoring in a 3-2 final win over rivals Everton in 1989.
He went on to manage Tranmere Rovers during their runs to the quarter finals in 2000 and 2001, where they lost to Newcastle and Liverpool. His early playing career was with South Liverpool, Newport County and Oxford United.
