Port Vale FA Cup hero Ben Waine believes Sunday's shock win over Sunderland shows they can dig themselves out of the League One basement.

Waine's 28th-minute header saw Vale dispatch the Premier League Black Cats and reach the last eight for the first time since 1954.

But there is limited time for celebrations with Bradford due at Vale Park tomorrow night - their next opportunity to eat into the 11-point gap that separates them from safety.

But in a season when they have won only six league games, FA Cup victories over Bristol Rovers, Fleetwood, Bristol City and now Sunderland - all 1-0 and a 5-1 rout of non-league Maldon & Tiptree in the first round, have given the players belief they can still get out of trouble.
