'8AM SCRAMBLE' FOR GP ENDS FROM TODAY

PATIENTS can now book GP appointments online throughout the day, putting an end to the dreaded "8am scramble".
From today, surgeries must take requests between 8am and 6.30pm for appointments, freeing up phone lines for those who need them.
Currently, practices can suspend online bookings when they get too busy and phone lines can remain engaged so some patients are unable to get through.
