SSC begin campaign with outright win

SSC began their Major Club Tier 'B' three-day tournament campaign with an outright win by an innings and 11 runs over Mandy Customs SC in the match concluded at the Army ground in Dombagoda yesterday.

The second day's play saw SSC in reply to Kandy Customs SC's score of 155, resuming from their overnight score of 253/3, going on to make a score of 304/5 declared. Kandy Customs SC, batting the second time and left with the task of erasing a deficit of 149 runs, was able to muster a score of only 138 runs.

The other matches played saw it ending in first-inning wins for Moratuwa SC, Sebastianites C&AC and United Southern SC over Galle CC, Leo CC and Malay CC played at Anuradhapura, Kosgama and Sooriyawewa.

Army SC and Ragama CC have already taken a first-inning lead against Navy SC and Negombo CC at the second day's play at Welisara and BRC grounds. The two matches will be continued today.
