Sri Lanka's World Cup Rugby Dream Comes Alive

Given Sri Lanka's status as a rugby-playing nation for the last decade or so, not many would have given them a chance to ever be a part of a Rugby World Cup, but their performance on Saturday (19) has given the whole nation a belief that the Tuskers could finally make it to the biggest stage.
Their thumping win (59-19) over Malaysia secured them a berth in the top Asia Rugby Emirates Men's Championship 2025, which also features Hong Kong, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates.
The Tuskers will be hosting South Korea (June 14) and UAE (July 4), while their only away game against Hong Kong will be played on June 21.
Should Sri Lanka win all these three matches, they'd be automatically qualified for the Rugby World Cup 2027 in Australia. However, should they finish second, they have to go on and participate in another play-off round.
