Govt. accelerates green hydrogen push with policy framework and national consultations

THE Government is intensifying its pursuit of sustainable energy solutions by moving forward with the development of a green hydrogen industry, identified as a key pillar in the country's strategy to diversify its energy mix and significantly cut carbon emissions.

The Cabinet of Ministers at their meeting on Monday reviewed and acknowledged the matters presented by the Power Minister Eng. Kumara Jayakody underscoring the importance of designing the hydrogen sector in a way that is compatible with local conditions and requirements, adheres to international safety standards, and meets global performance benchmarks.
