British Sri Lankan cardiologist meets King of Spain at world's largest heart congress

BRITISH Sri Lankan cardiologist Dr. Yanushi Dullewe Wijeyeratne received international recognition at the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Annual Congress 2025 in Madrid, held from 29 August to 1 September.

The congress, held alongside the World Congress of Cardiology, is the world’s largest cardiology conference, and this year marked 75 years of advances in cardiovascular science by the European Society of Cardiology. Dr. Wijeyeratne was invited by the European Society of Cardiology to chair multiple scientific sessions at the congress, deliver lectures to a global audience, and appear on the ESC’s official TV channel.
