Bloomfield and BRC involved in high-scoring thriller
Daily FT
|July 10, 2025
BLOOMFIELD and BRC were involved in a run glut at the Bloomfield grounds where 615 runs were scored with both sides topping the 300-run mark in a Major Club 50-over game yesterday, but strangely, not one batsman crossed the century mark.

Bloomfield, invited to bat first, thumped 313-5 with contributions of 90* off 86 balls (4 fours, 6 sixes) from the captain Nipun Karunanayake. He received good support from Janith Liyanage (51 off 57 balls, 4 fours, 1 six), Ravindu Fernando (58 off 40 balls, 6 fours, 2 sixes) and Lahiru Madushanka whose 37* off 10 balls comprised 5 sixes. Though losing their first four wickets for 93, BRC put up a good fight to reply with 302-8 to lose by 11 runs. Diniru Abeywickramasingha, the former Matara St. Servatius left-hander and Sri Lanka U19 cricketer missed out on a maiden century by two runs (98 off 90 balls, 9 fours, 3 sixes) and Chamika Heenatigala contributed 53 off 64 (4 fours).
