MORE than 35 years since their divorce, Pattie Boyd, pictured, publicly attempted to reach out to second husband Eric Clapton via social media following his 80th birthday.

She sweetly announced: “Aren’t we lucky to still be around and enjoying life?”

I’m reminded that modern-day relations between the pair – married from 1979 to 1989 – have been particularly tested since Pattie’s decision last year to auction off her memorabilia for just under £3million.

They notably included intimate love letters once written to her by Clapton, who penned the songs Layla, Bell Bottom Blues and Wonderful Tonight about the model.
