Nearly two-thirds of people aged 35-54 book their car in for an annual MOT, yet fewer than half have had a cholesterol test in the past five years, despite heart disease being the UK's biggest killer.
Almost half of 2,000 people told a survey they have never had a check. TV doctor Hilary Jones said: “We wouldn't ignore flashing lights on a car dash - yet many ignore warning signs on their own body. Midlife is when blood pressure and cholesterol checks matter most, even if you feel fine.”
