SIR Elton John and his long-time lyricist Bernie Taupin have won a prestigious American gong in a nod to their incredible talent for writing a song.
The British legends, who have been working together for 56 years, have notched up 57 top 40 hits in the US.
And this week they were awarded the 2024 Library of Congress Gershwin Prize Popular Song at a special ceremony in Washington.
Sir Elton, 76, said: "We never thought that one day this might be bestowed upon us. It's an incredible honour for two British guys to be recognised like this."
