'We must defend independent, trusted BBC'

SIR Keir Starmer has vowed to defend an “independent, trusted BBC" amid the Panorama scandal.
Donald Trump pledged to sue the corporation over its edi of a 2021 ‘speech, the broadcast clip of which had given the “mistaken impression that President Trump had made a direct call for violent action”.
The US leader said he would still go ahead with his legal action despite an apology, but that he would speak to the Prime Minister over the incident.
Sir Keir - speaking as he travelled to the G20 in South Africa - said he was yet to have a discussion with Mr Trump.
