WALES are looking to scale new heights in their first major tournament - after boss Rhian Wilkinson named her squad for Euro 2025 at the top of a mountain.

- DARREN WELLS

The lowest-ranked team at this summer's tournament will aim to spring a few shocks when they step foot in Switzerland.

Their male counterparts have earned a reputation as plucky underdogs since reaching the semi-finals of Euro 2016.

But Wales' women would be on course for the ultimate underdog story if they manage to battle their way out of a 'group of death' including England, France and the Netherlands.

Certainly for Wilkinson, she will hope her side have not peaked too soon.

The former Canada international - who won 181 caps for her country - has already gone where no other manager of Wales' women's team has gone.

The Euros, that is. Not the top of Mount Snowdon. But the message will not have been lost on her players after hiking up to the mountain's summit in 90 minutes of what they can still achieve.
