Victims of NI blunder getting less pension

NEARLY 200,000 people could be entitled to thousands in compensation after losing out on a full state pension through historical system errors.

People who stayed home to look after a child or as a carer from 1978 to 2010 could wrongly have gaps in their national insurance record under Home Responsibilities Protection.

People got HRP - later replaced by NI credits if they claimed child benefit or income support.

But the system failed to record HRP credits accurately for some after the shift to NI.
