UK's cancer care is at a 'critical breaking point'

EXPERTS are calling for “radical” action to save UK cancer care.
They warn the system is facing a “critical breaking point” with delayed treatment the “deadly norm”.
In the journal Lancet Oncology they urge an independent National Cancer Director be appointed and an office set up to support data-driven actions.
Mark Lawler, professor of Digital Health at Queen’s University Belfast and lead author, said: “We are in the midst of a cancer crisis, precipitated by 14 years of gross mismanagement by the previous administration and the impact of Covid and lockdowns on cancer services and patients.
