UK vulnerable as AI 'could replace half new office jobs'
Daily Express
|May 31, 2025
ARTIFICIAL intelligence could eliminate up to 50% of all entry-level white-collar jobs within the next five years — with the UK particularly vulnerable to disruption — according to an AI chief executive.
Dario Amodei, who heads Anthropic, an AI safety and research company, said the widespread adoption of the tech is progressing faster than most people realise.
He added: “We, as the producers of this technology, have a duty and an obligation to be honest about what’s coming.
“I don’t think this is on people’s radar.”
Speaking at his company’s inaugural developer conference, he predicted the rapid evolution could drive up global unemployment by 10 to 20% in the near future as firms increasingly automate junior roles in sectors including law, finance, technology and consulting.
