And he revealed it would not just be Jude Bellingham missing out on his England squad had it not been for injuries - because Bukayo Saka might not have made the cut either.
The Three Lions head coach caused shockwaves by leaving Real Madrid superstar Bellingham out of his squad to face Wales and Latvia, even though he is fit again.
A should injury meant Bellingham missed last month's 5-0 win in Serbia, which the German said was England's best performance of his reign.
