|September 19, 2025
DONALD Trump bade farewell to a “great gentleman and great king” at Windsor Castle yesterday, at the end of the royal elements of his historic second state visit.
Speaking alongside Sir Keir Starmer after arriving at Chequers, the Prime Minister’s country home, the US president hailed the “exquisite honour” of being invited back to the UK.
He said: “I was here a number of years ago, but somehow today it looks even better, even more beautiful and even more historic.”
The US leader added: “Melania and I are forever thankful to His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty Queen Camilla. Had a fantastic evening last night but the exquisite honour of a second official state visit, the first ever.”
Earlier the King and Mr Trump stood chatting for several minutes before saying goodbye and shaking hands. The president turned to the watching press and said: “Thank you very much, everybody. He’s a great gentleman and a great king,” gesturing to Charles beside him.
