In-demand Williams is on the money in Gloucester's romp

- BY ADAM HATHAWAY

TOMOS WILLIAMS showed why Gloucester are desperate to keep him as they kicked off their Champions Cup campaign with a 34-14 victory against Castres.

And in another boost for Prem clubs, last year's beaten finalists Northampton went to France and beat the Top 14’s second-placed side Pau 35-27.

Wales scrumhalf Williams pinned back the French with his kicking, booting three 50-22s,and his 30m pass for Charlie Atkinson's second try sealed the bonus point.

Williams (circle), Prem Player of the Season last campaign, has been linked with a move to Saracens but Gloucester are keen for him to stay at Kingsholm.

Head coach George Skivington said: “He is a world-class player and a British Lion and whenever he is on the pitch he can make things happen.
