Wigan's Las Vegas glee is destiny for Dupree family

- James Smailes

SUPER SHOW

THE NEPHEW of a former Super Bowl winner became Super League's first tryscorer on United States soil to set Wigan on their way to an emphatic victory.

Warriors prop Tyler Dupree was spotted throwing an American Football around the Allegiant Stadium during Friday's team visit to the venue and both he and his family will have enjoyed seeing him etch his name into the record books in this first league game to be played in America.

Although Dupree hails from Halifax, his uncle, Billy Joe Dupree, right, won the NFL's showcase event with the Dallas Cowboys, in 1978, beating the Denver Broncos.

At the home of the Las Vegas Raiders, Dupree touched down to set the all-conquering Warriors on their way to a victory that was far easier than the scoreline suggests after a late flurry of four tries for Warrington.

A delighted Wigan head coach Matt Peet had a special word for Dupree, too, in his praise of the champions.
