Fernandes still inspired to restore United glory days after 300 games

- STEVEN RAILSTON

BRUNO FERNANDES admitted even a breathtaking offer from Saudi Arabia and talks with Cristiano Ronaldo could not tempt him to give up on his ambitions of lifting major honours at Manchester United.

The Portuguese midfielder is set to make his 300th appearance for United against Brighton this evening, just under six years on from his electric impact after arriving in Manchester from Sporting Lisbon.

Fernandes said: “There was nothing else in my head other than making it in the Premier League, because it was my dream to play for this club for many years.”

That dream almost came to an end in the summer when Al-Hilal made a bid to sign United's captain. Fernandes puffed his cheeks as he conceded the offer to join Ronaldo, who is at Al-Nassr, in Saudi Arabia was “very good”.

He said: “I spoke with Cristiano about the situation, about Saudi and everything.
