Starmer insists US would 'have our backs' as Trump severs key aid to fight Putin missiles
Daily Express

DONALD Trump has made it “absolutely” clear he would defend Europe from Vladimir Putin, Sir Keir Starmer has told MPs.
The Prime Minister’s insistence that the US would “have our backs” came amid intense diplomatic efforts following the president’s shock decision to freeze military aid to war-ravaged Ukraine.
America has also halted sharing intelligence with Kyiv, in what could be a huge blow to the country’s ability to fight back against Russia and defend itself from incoming missiles.
Britain has also reportedly been blocked from sharing US-provided intelligence with its Ukrainian allies.
During Prime Minister’s Questions yesterday, Sir Keir told the Commons it was vital to ensure that the US, the UK, Europe and Ukraine were “working together”and the UK must not choose between America and Europe. He said he discussed security guarantees with Mr Trump and the president was “absolutely clear he would have our backs”.
No 10 said the UK’s stance on putting Ukraine in the “strongest possible position” had not changed.
