MATT WESTON says he is "gutted" Ukraine's Vladyslav Heraskevych was thrown out of the Olympic skeleton final before the Brit grabbed the halfway lead in Cortina.
Heraskevych was disqualified less than an hour before he was due to compete for refusing to give up his war memorial helmet.
Journalists and photographers scrambled to track him down and spent much of the morning with their backs to the ice, while Weston raced down in a track-record time.
The 28-year-old is in pole position to end Team GB's Olympic medal drought at these Games today.
