Mike Ward previews tonight's TV

BORIS Johnson, so I've been told, is not every woman's idea of a dreamboat. But a somewhat younger version of our former PM would certainly be Rebecca's.

Twenty-one years old and from Greater Manchester, Rebecca is the first person through the door on this week's FIRST DATES (C4, 10pm).

And as she waits for her mystery chap to show up, she isn't afraid to tell barman Merlin what type of fellow she's hoping for.

"If I had to build a boy," she reveals, he'd have "fuzzy hair, kind of" and be "well educated". When she goes on to add "slightly Boris Johnson-looking," Merlin sounds a little surprised.

"That's not something I thought I'd hear today," he replies.

But it's not just Boris's smouldering good looks that Rebecca finds herself attracted to.

A bitter blow for local papers and those they serve

FROM the pandemic lockdowns to business rates hikes and changing consumer behaviours - pubs and licensed premises have been hit hard in recent years. I've been a firsthand witness to the sad decline or closure of far too many. So I'm genuinely thrilled that the Government has recognised the need for action to support these institutions.
