Rooney: I'd be dead from drinking without Coleen
Daily Express
|September 25, 2025
WAYNE Rooney has spoken of his alcohol addiction — and says he could have died without his wife’s help.
The former England great is still Manchester United’s top scorer.
But Rooney has now revealed how he battled with the booze even as he starred on the pitch.
Referring to his wife Coleen, he said: “I honestly believe if she wasn’t there, I'd be dead. I believe that.”
He also told the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast how he would hide his drinking from the then United boss Sir Alex Ferguson at training.
