BRITAIN is broken. You can see it wherever you look.
Real wages haven't increased in years. The small boats, bringing dangerous people, keep coming. Some 93% of crime goes unsolved. Our roads are littered with potholes.
Recently, my dad, Bill, having suffered a stroke, waited 12 hours in A&E to be seen. Everyone I know has a story like that.
Public services, the economy, law and order: none of it is working as it should.
But the Conservative Party - a party I joined as a boy - won't admit Britain is broken. Why? Because they broke it.
Let me give you an example.
Over Christmas, I attacked Labour for bringing the anti-British, antisemitic, terrorist sympathiser, Alaa Abd El-Fattah, here from Egypt. I urged them to revoke his visa and deport this dangerous man from our shores. But senior figures in the Tory party were angry at me because, and I quote, it “exposed the party to criticism for having granted him citizenship in 2021”.
