Quit smoking plea of former soldier after cancer op scare

A RETIRED Army drill sergeant has urged people to give cigarettes their marching orders after his life-saving cancer surgery was almost abandoned due to his years of smoking.
Tony Jackson, 63, of Weaverham, Cheshire, was diagnosed with kidney cancer last September and had surgery to remove it on December 10.
