THE Queen led tributes to Dame Jilly Cooper, wishing her long- standing friend a “hereafter filled with impossibly handsome men and devoted dogs”.

Camilla called her “a legend” as it was announced yesterday that the author had died on Sunday aged 88 after a fall.

The friendship between the pair went back decades, with the Riders novelist partly basing her bestknown creation, lothario Rupert Campbell-Black, on the Queen’s exhusband Andrew Parker Bowles.

In a rare message released by Buckingham Palace in memory of the “queen of the bonkbusters”, Camilla said: “I was so saddened to learn of Dame Jilly’s death.
