Private sector rebound, but growth 'fragile and uneven'

BUSINESS activity in Britain's private sector enjoyed its strongest rebound in a year this month, latest figures show.
But economists have greeted the news with caution, warning UK growth remains “fragile and uneven”.
Business analysts S&P Global said its flash UK composite purchasing managers' index — a regular survey of manufacturers and service providers — reached a score of 53.0 in August, up from 51.5 in July and the highest score in 12 months.
Any score above 50.0 indicates activity is growing.
The boost was driven by a rebound in the services sector, which benefited from new work and rising sales.
