Price of food 'to rocket by 4.2% this year' due to Budget burden

FOOD prices are expected to rise by 4.2% on average in the second half of 2025 due to £7billion of extra costs facing retailers after the Budget.
The forecast by the British Retail Consortium and industry chiefs suggests there is "little hope of prices going anywhere but up", BRT boss Helen Dickinson said.
Firms will soon face new or higher national insurance, living wage and packaging costs.
