Post Office boss's demand for £1m deal as wronged workers fought for payout

POST Office boss Nick Read demanded a £1 million pay packet while sub-postmasters in the Horizon scandal went without compensation, it has been claimed.
Mr Read, chief executive since 2019, said he was "prepared to make a drama" if he was not paid more, according to leaked minutes of a meeting with chairman Henry Staunton and human resources.
Mr Read, who is under internal investigation over allegations including bullying, earned £816,000 in 2021-22 and £573,000 the following year.
An insider claimed it was "tantrum city" when Mr Read met the director of human resources, according to a Sunday newspaper.
