Police to up use of facial recognition

POLICE are to increase the use of live facial recognition technology, despite growing fears of a surveillance state.

Announcing a consultation on new rules governing when the cameras can be used, policing minister Sarah Jones hailed the technology as the “biggest breakthrough for catching criminals since DNA matching”.
