Police say alkali suspect may have thrown himself in river

It came as acid attack victim Katie Piper donated £1,000 to a fund for the mother and daughter who got life-changing injuries in last week's horror in Clapham, South London.

Ezedi, who also suffered facial burn injuries that experts said could prove fatal if untreated, was seen on CCTV walking through the capital along the Thames at night following the attack.

But despite searching thousands of hours of footage, police cannot find any images beyond that night. They now believe he may have jumped or fallen into the river.

A £20,000 reward had been offered for information leading to the arrest of Afghan-born Ezedi, 35, a convicted sex offender given asylum after converting to Christianity.
