THE foot-dragging by the House of Lords must not be allowed to derail the long-awaited law to give terminally ill people the right to end their lives.

The unelected chamber risks torching its credibility if opponents of assisted dying engage in parliamentary tricks to try and prevent the historic law change.
The Bill has been approved by MPs after intense debate in the House of Commons. But more than 1,000 amendments have been tabled in the Lords.
