DABBLE with PAINT THE DREAM (3.45) to roll back the years in the £100,000 BetVictor Greatwood Gold Cup at Newbury today.
The veteran chaser was an easy winner of the 2m 4f contest in 2022 when saddled by Fergal O'Brien.
Triumphant over course and distance eight months later, Paint The Dream was weighed down by 11lb extra when he attempted a repeat in this a year on.
It also preceded a 650-day break, which suggests it might not have been a true reflection of his ability.
My selection's three low-key prep runs lumping big weights have seen his mark tumble 15lb to 135.
