One billion body scans boost health research

THE world’s largest whole-body imaging project has been finished thanks to 100,000 British volunteers, who had their brains, hearts, abdomens, blood vessels, bones and joints scanned.

It is hoped the addition of more than one billion images to the UK Biobank will deliver a new wave of medical breakthroughs.

The health research study has collected data from half a million people since the early 2000s to aid global research.
