Teenage Brit steps into Ferrari for his debut on the big stage
OLIVER BEARMAN'S feelings of pride were washed away away by disappointment on the eve of his Grand Prix debut.
The British teenager just missed out on reaching the final part of qualifying yesterday. He will start 11th on the grid in Saudi Arabia today after replacing Ferrari's Carlos Sainz.
Sainz swiftly underwent surgery after he was diagnosed with appendicitis, so Ferrari called up Bearman, who was made an official reserve driver by the team at the start of the season.
But the 18-year-old from Chelmsford said after his first competitive F1 session: "At the moment [I'm] not so proud.
