Glasner uses his glory days to spark Palace

OLIVER GLASNER has told his Crystal Palace players that winning the club’s first trophy in the FA Cup final today will stay in their hearts and minds forever.

The Austrian came to the Premier League last year after lifting the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2022.

Glasner’s earliest silverware came as a player in the 1998 Austrian Cup final when SV Ried beat Sturm Graz for their maiden major trophy. The Eagles manager, now 50, still remembers the emotions.

The former defender, who came on after 61 minutes, said: “I wasn’t nervous, but I was very disappointed because I didn’t start. I had appendix surgery three weeks earlier but it was a great game.

“I don’t know where the medal is. But I remember the moment when you get the medal and lift the trophy.
