FAVOURITE Alexei careered away from a competitive field to land the £100,000 Unibet Greatwood Hurdle at Cheltenham.
Sent off at 100-30 after a fluent success at Ascot 15 days ago, the Brocade Racing-owned gelding was untried in the mud over obstacles.
But the ex-Flat racer in Germany sluiced through Prestbury Park's soft surface.
The result looked likely when he loomed up alongside Helnwein.
