MIKEL UNDER PRESSURE AS LEGEND WEIGHS IN
Daily Express
|May 29, 2025
THIERRY HENRY has cranked up the pressure on Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta by sayng it’s normal to be agitated about his five years without a trophy.
And the Gunners’ record goalscorer cannot understand why Arteta signed Raheem Sterling on loan last August when “everyone has been screaming” for a centre forward.
Arsenal finished runners-up in the Premier League for a third consecutive season, 10 points behind champions Liverpool after running Manchester City closer in the previous two years.
Their Champions League crusade, which included home-and-away wins over Real Madrid, stalled against Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals.
But Henry, who scored 228 goals for the Gunners, says it is not enough after five years without adding to the FA Cup Arteta lifted behind closed doors in 2020 in his first year as the club’s manager.
World Cup winner Henry said: “I understand that at the beginning it’s not your team. You need at least three or four transfer windows to change everything that you want to.
“It takes time and you have to give a manager time to be able to implement what he wants to do.
