Met chief wants 12-15 mega-forces to police Britain

Plan would axe County constabularies
MET Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley has called for the creation of 12 to 15 “mega-forces” in a radical shakeup.
The proposal is part of what he describes as “the first serious reform of our policing model in over 60 years”.
Sir Mark said the current system of 43 county forces has not “been fit for purpose for at least two decades”.
He added that bigger forces would be better able to use modern technology and would reduce “expensive” governance and support functions.
