Ground convinces Botti to run with Atzeni booked

ANDREA ATZENI will jet in from Hong Kong to ride Giavellotto in Sunday’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe after a dry forecast persuaded Marco Botti to commit his stable star to Longchamp next weekend.

Botti was lukewarm on an Arc challenge after Giavellotto and Oisin Murphy inflicted a shock defeat on Paris-bound Kalpana in the Group Three September Stakes at Kempton Park 23 days ago.

“[ thought, ‘If it is anything softer than good, we won't go,” said the Newmarket-based Italian, whose six-year-old secured a first Group One triumph when capturing the Hong Kong Vase under Murphy at ShaTin last December.
