'Life's happier and more worthwhile than before Covid'

OLDER people are happier, more satisfied and have a greater sense of purpose than before Covid hit, experts have found.

Living through the pandemic may have given people a "renewed appreciation" for social connections, researchers suggested.

But they noted depression rates were still slightly elevated compared with pre-2020.

Academics analysed data from the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing, which tracks the wellbeing of people aged over 50.

Figures found self-reported ratings for happiness, "eudaimonic wellbeing" which measures whether a life feels worthwhile - and life satisfaction all plummeted during the pandemic but improved post-Covid.
